Gozo’s unique, diverse and exciting history dates back to 5000BC, making it the perfect destination for those guests hoping to discover the past of this complex region.
Over the years Gozo has been in the hands of many, including the Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs, the Knights of St John, the French and the British. Each ruling power left a taste of their culture giving today’s visitors the chance to travel back in time to relive the different aspects that now combine to form Malta and Gozo.

Timeless and remote, the history of Ta’ Cenc goes back centuries; in fact it is still home to a medieval palazzo built by the Knights of St John during their stay on the islands.
The whole Ta’ Cenc territory was acquired by a noble Italian family in the late sixties and was lovingly crafted to include the first 5 star hotel on the island – Hotel Ta’ Cenc, which opened its doors in 1972. The original hotel was later extended and totally refurbished in 1992.
The present owners, Victor J. Borg Group of Companies , took over in 1997 and carried out a complete upgrading and refurbishing programme.. The Group comprises the four star Cornucopia Hotel, self catering bungalows and villas, the four star St. Patrick’s Hotel and the Gozo Garage Car Hire and Handling Agents.
During 2002 a new state of art Health Spa was built and in March 2010 energy efficient equipment was in place as part of part the refurbishment and upgrading of the whole hotel.  The hotel was certified as eco friendly by the Malta Tourism Authrority.  The Kantra Beach club was also reopened in June 2012 after it had a complete overhaul to meet present day requirements and expectations while simultaneously respecting the present rural surroundings.
The pace here may be slower than on mainland Malta, but a sense of vibrancy is still felt in every aspect of its makeup. Loved by visitors from around the world, Gozo truly is an unforgettable experience.
